CCAGW PAC Reaffirms Its Support of Fiscally Conservative Candidates in Arizona

Washington, D.C. – On September 20, 2010, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) announced its endorsement of Sen. John McCain (R), Rep. Jeff Flake (R), and Rep. Trent Franks (R), who are seeking re-election to Congress in Arizona.

“In this time of massive new government spending and bailouts, huge budget deficits, public debt, and inefficient bureaucracies, taxpayers need friends in Washington who will defend their interests, not the special interests,” said Thomas Schatz, Chairman of the CCAGW PAC.  “That is why the CCAGW PAC is reiterating its support of these candidates, who are bona fide fiscal conservatives committed to reducing the size of government by working to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.”

All three candidates have been principled advocates for lower taxes and smaller government.  Sen. McCain received a score of 99 percent in CCAGW’s 2009 Congressional Ratings, earning the rank of Taxpayer Hero.  Rep. Flake received a score of 100 percent, earning the rank of Taxpayer Super Hero, and Rep. Franks received a score of 92 percent, earning the rank of Taxpayer Hero.  “The CCAGW Congressional Ratings verify that these candidates will seek ways to control spending, fight for lower taxes, and eradicate wasteful programs,” declared Schatz.

The CCAGW PAC also urges Arizona voters to closely examine the records of all incumbents because some have received abysmal vote ratings.  Fifth District Rep. Harry Mitchell (D), for example, received a score of 37 percent in the CCAGW 2009 Congressional Ratings, and has a lifetime rating of 28 percent, earning the rank of “Unfriendly.”  Seventh District Rep. Raul Grijalva (D) did even worse, scoring a pathetic 1 percent in 2009, with a lifetime rating of 4 percent, earning the rank of “Hostile.”  Reps. Mitchell’s and Grijalva’s ratings demonstrate continued support for policies that promote higher taxes and profligate spending, which have placed the country on a path to fiscal ruin.

“In the current political and fiscal climate, Congress has engaged in a historically unprecedented level of spending, and is supporting actions that will mortgage our children’s futures.  On November 2, 2010, voters in Arizona should support Sen. McCain and Reps. Flake and Franks and other candidates like them, so that they can fight for fiscally conservative principles that are vital to the taxpayers in the 112th Congress,” concluded Schatz.

CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization.  CCAGW PAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
