CCAGW PAC Endorses Rep. Minnick for Congress

Washington, D.C. – The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) today announced its endorsement of Rep. Walt Minnick, the only congressional Democrat to receive the organization’s support.  He is seeking re-election to Congress in Idaho.

“In this time of massive new government spending and bailouts, huge budget deficits, public debt, and inefficient bureaucracies, taxpayers need friends in Washington who will defend their interests, not the special interests,” said Thomas Schatz, Chairman of CCAGW PAC.  “Rep. Minnick did not request any earmarks, and has signed CCAGW’s ‘No Pork Pledge.’  His opponent, Raul Labrador, has also signed the pledge and answered CCAGW’s candidate questionnaire.   Both candidates are therefore bona fide fiscal conservatives committed to reducing the size of government.  However, Rep. Minnick has been a bright light among his colleagues and has a proven track record of voting to eliminate government waste and reduce taxes.  He deserves another term in the House.”

Rep. Minnick withstood immense pressure to support his party’s agenda, which has produced runaway deficit spending and an enormous expansion of government.  He received a score of 83 percent in the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste’s (CCAGW) 2009 Congressional Ratings, earning the rank of Taxpayer Hero.  That was 79 points above the Democratic average of 4 percent; 105 members of his party received a score of zero.  Rep. Minnick’s rating is 12 points higher than the House Republican average of 71 percent and three points higher than the House Republican Study Committee average of 80 percent.  “The CCAGW Congressional Ratings verify that Rep. Minnick has voted with taxpayers in the past and gives us confidence that he will continue to seek ways to limit spending and eradicate wasteful programs,” declared Schatz.

“In the current political and fiscal climate, Congress has engaged in a historically unprecedented level of spending, and is supporting actions that will mortgage our children’s futures.  On November 2, 2010 voters in Idaho should support Rep. Minnick so that he can fight for fiscally conservative principles that are vital to the taxpayers in the 112th Congress,” concluded Schatz.

CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization.  CCAGW PAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
