1. Spending Restraint: I will support efforts to shrink federal discretionary and mandatory spending and will oppose raising taxes to reduce the deficit. I will work to eliminate government programs that are obsolete, mismanaged, or duplicative.

2. Budget Reform: I will support efforts to adopt the budget reform principles found in H.R. 2084, the Family Budget Protection Act, that provides for a simple and legally binding budget; puts a lid on Federal spending, combats waste, fraud, and abuse; and secures truth in accounting procedures.

3. Earmark Reform: I will sign CCAGW’s Earmark Reform Pledge and work to curtail earmarks. I will promote greater transparency and disclosure for earmarks in all appropriations, authorization, and tax bills. I will support the Legislative Line Item Veto Act of 2007 that gives the President the ability to propose eliminating wasteful spending while preserving congressional power to appropriate funds.
