CCAGW PAC Endorses Sydney Hay for Arizona's 1st District
Washington, D.C. - The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) today announced its endorsement of Sydney Hay for Congress in Arizona’s First Congressional District. Mrs. Hay is running in the Republican primary against Preston Korn. The winner will face the Democratic candidate for the seat of retiring Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Ariz.).
“Sydney Hay is a true fiscal conservative who has pledged to reduce the size of government by working to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse,” CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz said. “She understands the critical need to end Congress’s addiction to spending and earmarking.”
Mrs. Hay is the only candidate for the First Congressional District in Arizona to sign the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) Earmark Reform Pledge. The pledge features ten principles designed to bring increased transparency and accountability to the spending process. In fiscal year 2008, pork-barrel spending ballooned to 11,610 projects costing $17.2 billion.
In her CCAGW PAC Candidate Questionnaire, Sydney Hay pledged support for taxpayer-friendly initiatives such as budget and earmark reform, tax cuts, a Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights, and the line-item veto. Mrs. Hay’s experience as a taxpayer advocate and small business owner give her the skills necessary to tackle some of Washington’s biggest spending problems.
“Sydney Hay has a long history of fighting for taxpayers. As a Taxpayers Action Network leader, she led Taxpayers Action Day rallies for CCAGW in the early 1990’s and has never wavered in her efforts to cut taxes and wasteful spending. She has the ability to lead Congress to improve the future economic outlook. America needs leaders who say ‘no’ to the continuing spending and pork-fest in Washington. Sydney Hay will work in the best interests of Arizona’s First District and taxpayers nationwide,” Schatz concluded.
CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGW PAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
