CCAGWPAC Endorses Rick Perry for Governor of Texas
Washington, D.C. - The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGWPAC) has formally announced it endorsement of Rick Perry for Governor of Texas. Gov. Perry is running in the Republican primary against gubernatorial challenger Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. Since February 19, 2010 the CCAGW PAC have been running radio ads supporting Gov. Perry in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Waco-Temple-Bryan, Tyler-Longview-Lufkin/Nac, Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland-Odessa, and Abilene markets.
“As Governor of Texas, Rick Perry has been for Lone Star State taxpayers. He has pushed for more transparency and blocked $35.8 million in earmarks in the higher education budget. He has been a foe of wasteful spending and has kept the state on sound fiscal footing even as states all over the country are facing massive deficits and, in some case, trying to avoid bankruptcy,” CCAGWPAC Chairman Tom Schatz said.
Gov. Perry’s opponent in the primary, four-term Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, came in second in Citizens Against Government Waste’s (CAGW) 2009 Porker of the Year contest. She asked for $1.6 billion in congressional earmarks last year and called earmarking “a legitimate role of Congress.” She also has one of the worst vote ratings on wasteful spending and taxes among Senate Republicans.
“Sen. Hutchison’s record stands in complete contrast to Governor Rick Perry. She talks like a fiscal conservative back home, but acts like a big spender in Washington. Gov. Perry doesn’t just talk the talk; he walks the walk, and that is why Texans should vote for him on Tuesday, March 2,” concluded Schatz.
CCAGWPAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGWPAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
